The Human Rights Act (HRA)

The Human Rights Act 1998 incorporates key rights from the European Convention on Human Rights into UK law and places obligations on public authorities to respect and protect those rights. This course explains how the Act applies in public sector settings, the key rights most likely to arise in everyday work, and how to make decisions that are lawful, justified and proportionate. It also covers positive obligations, information sharing, safeguarding, enforcement activities and the importance of documenting decisions and escalating concerns where necessary.
